By providing early detection, intervention, and the use of various therapy techniques, individuals with cognitive and/or eating problems can improve and maintain functioning throughout the entire course of their treament program and beyond. It is often the caregiver that becomes the most important part of this process. At ECG Wellcare, we believe it is equally important to provide the caregiver with support and training as it is to assist the individual.
We understand that caregivers want to support and aide their loved ones and that the changes confronting them can be overwhelming. We offer support and training to the caregiver in the following areas:
- Preservation of communication when caring for an individual diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, Alzheimer's or Dementia;
- Skills assessment/evaluation and suggestions for changes and improvements to facilitate increased functioning of their loved-one;
- Coaching of those caring for individuals with head trauma/injury and Aphasia;
- Counseling and education regarding assistive communication and technology to assist loved-ones with motor speech disabilities or cognitive and language disabilities
- Training in dietary modifications of food and liquids to assist individuals diagnosed with swallowing problems.
- And all other aspects of care for those with cognitive and/or eating disorders.
